Advantages of Exercise at Home

Who says that you have to belong to a gym to lose weight? The price of a gym membership is more than some people can afford. With rising prices on everything from gas to groceries, finding ways to save money is a high priority. There is a way to save your hard earned pay without sacrificing your ability to exercise and stay healthy. You can still lose weight and get healthy when you work out at home.

There are several advantages to working out at home. You don't have to get in your car and drive - anywhere. When you get up in the morning or come home at night, grab your shoes and your workout clothes and head to the living room or spare bedroom. There's no need to worry about how silly you might look - no one's watching!

As you may experience before at the gym, you may not feel comfortable working out with those who are younger moving at a faster pace. At home, you can rewind a portion of the routine that you got wrong and do it again.

Working out at home increases your chances of sticking to the program. Why? Gym memberships lose their luster for some people after only a few months. Work gets busy or the kids are into after school activities and you can't make it to the gym for your work out. Tiredness will make you reconsider driving twenty minutes to your gym.

Decide what type of exercise you are interested in doing. If you have bad knee joints, riding a recumbent bike takes the pressure off and continues to work those leg muscles. For a more rigorous program, try an aerobics DVD or kickboxing. Most exercise systems offered today have an instruction booklet and any props you need for performing the routine.

Working out at home is perfect when you have small children too. While they sleep, you can get in a quick thirty minute workout. Even if they are awake, push them in a stroller through the neighborhood as you jog or walk. Kids can hinder a workout at the gym if there is no child care or if the child care center is full. There's nothing like having to miss your class because there was no room in the children's center, especially if you almost decided not to go because you were tired or just didn't feel like going. With home workouts that is never a problem.

Fitness goals can still be reached if you exercise at home. It is a little easier to fit in a workout when everything you need is in your house and you don't need to run to the gym. Besides, there's no monthly payment and with prices rising like they are that can't be anything but good.

Nevertheless, the key factors to success should be determination and consistence.

I pray for all your success.

  1. Resistance bands are great for working out at home. Not only are they affordable, they take up very little space in your home. You can travel with them too. I've got some free exercises that
your readers might be interested in. They're live daily workouts, but they record them so
they can be watched when you have time. I like these because I don't get bored like I do with
DVD's. Every day they have a new workout, but it's complimentary to the previous day's
workout. They've got a good mix of cardio and strength training. There are workouts for
men, women, and teens. It's like having a personal trainer in your own home.
