Cardiovascular Fitness

Cardiovascular fitness is at the top of the list for those who want to get fit and stay fit. Weight loss efforts are maximized with cardio fitness and can be a great way to enjoy your surroundings and friends.

One method of getting a great workout is by swimming. Swimming is ideal for those who want a low-impact exercise that also provides cardio benefits.

People who have joint disorders find that swimming is a great way to stay in shape and lose weight without further damaging their joints while burning the most calories.

Another low-impact workout is walking. Walking at least an hour a day can have its benefits. It provides people who have mobility issues to take their time and walk at their own pace. Unlike swimming, walking provides a little less of a cardio workout but consistency is the key if you want to see results.

Jogging has long been regarded as a good way to stay fit for active people. With the heart rate elevated, the jogger can burn fat faster and gain an overall body fitness. The downside to jogging compared to walking is the impact it has on the joints and for those who are not in great shape, jogging may not be as beneficial to them.

Biking on the other hand is an in between cardio workout that provides the benefits needed such as increased heart rate and ability to burn calories while being easier on the joints than either walking or jogging. Biking is also a great way to travel while you exercise and can save on the cost of gas.

For the social aspect of working out why not try basketball or even tennis? Both these activities provide a good cardio workout and they each have their own specific areas of the body that is concentrated on. Basketball provides a workout for your legs because you must remain in motion throughout the game.

Tennis on the other hand provides more of an upper body workout and while it too is a good cardio fitness regimen, most people do it for the social benefits it brings. They get to spend time with their friends.

You can try any of these basic workouts to increase your fitness level and have a healthy heart in the process.
